Michael Collins Michael Collins

President and Managing Editor

Michael caught the writing bug very early in life, dreaming of launching a career, selling a novel or two, and making millions. He spent four very frigid years in Ann Arbor, receiving a B.A. in Dramatic Writing from The University of Michigan. Along the way he won several playwriting awards, including the McIntyre Award and The New Works Festival. He spent another frigid year and a half at Boston University and received his M.A. in Creative Writing, studying under Nobel-Prize-Winning poet/playwright Derek Walcott. Returning to hometown Houston, still no richer than when he'd left, he decided it was high time to get a real job. He became a big-city police officer, and has risen to the rank of Sergeant.

Having never gotten the writing bug out of his system, he began entering short story writing competitions. Recently, two of his stories have been included in horror anthologies: “Feeding Frenzy” published in Undead Living by Sunbury Press and “Crow Killer” published in Shots of Terror by Angelic Knight Press. His story "Harris County Corpse-Killers" is scheduled to be published by Dark Continents Publishing in their Guns and Romances anthology in late 2014! You can learn more about his writing at www.collinsfiction.com.

Michael co-founded Papa Bear Press with a writer’s perspective, to shine the light on well-written stories by other up and coming authors. His aim is to help others as he has been helped, and expose the works of new talent to discerning readers.
